How to publish a ChatGPT website

ChatGPT can build the page in the chat. Publishing it is a separate step. Download the HTML file, upload it to Pristan, and we put it on a web address other people can open.

Get the file out of ChatGPT

  1. Open the chat where the page was made. Stay in that conversation. A new chat does not have the page unless you ask it to rebuild it.
  2. Ask for the download. Say: "Give me this website as one HTML file I can download. If there are images or more than one page, give me a zip."
  3. If you see a canvas or a preview, look for a download there. When there is no download button, the message in the previous step is the reliable way. The preview itself cannot be your public website.
  4. Save the file. On a phone, save the attachment to Files. On a computer, it lands in Downloads. Do not copy the page into an email and call that a backup of the site.
  5. Upload it here and put it online. Drop the file on Pristan, read the check, then put the website on your web address.

Do not publish the chat link

A link that opens ChatGPT is the conversation. It can ask people to sign in, and it is not your shop, your rooms, or your practice. Your website needs its own web address. You own that address.

If ChatGPT split the page into pieces

Sometimes you get index.html and a separate style file. Ask ChatGPT to put everything into one HTML file, or zip the folder and upload the zip. We read the HTML inside the zip and prefer a file named index.html.

Only if you save it as a file that ends in .html, without losing the start or the end. Asking ChatGPT to attach the file is safer, especially on a phone.

How do I update the site after I change it in ChatGPT?

Download the new file and upload it as the next version. The previous version stays available, and you can go back to it.
